Mindfulness is essentially being in the present moment, fully. It is the mind’s connection to our bodies, our experiences and sensations. Present and past masters of mindfulness have explained it as the awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, moment-by-moment, non-judgmentally and with self-compassion.
With its roots in Buddhism, mindfulness practice has gained in popularity over the past few years within many organisations, schools and with individuals seeking a more connected and balanced mind and body.
Mindfulness has been proven to be instrumental in treating chronic pain, reducing anxiety and stress, as well as increasing empathy and connection. We all have the ability to be mindful, but struggle at times in today’s fast paced world to focus. With regular practice your brain is literally rewired.
